Introduction
At the beginning of this field experience and throughout its course, I had had the opportunity to partake in three training sessions based on Environmental Health. These trainings were for the most part a way to ease me in the practice of public health and to understand how to work best on what is required of me. The first training was on how to conduct housing health inspections. As I was accompanied with a health inspector, I learned amply about the federal, state and local laws and regulations pertaining to this experience. Few weeks later, with the same tactics, I was trained on conducting food establishments, water supplies and laboratories inspections. Below is a document confirming these trainings including the date they were given.
Reflections
Certainly if an organization is to survive and prosper in the modern world of rapid change, it needs to be more flexible, faster-moving and faster-learning than before (Menguin, 2012). Therefore, the City of Worcester Public Health Department requires that its staff be on the top of what they do. Its ability to do this rests upon the abilities of its workforce to have the skills and leadership, hence the value of training. Providing training for employees not only helps them develop their skills and knowledge, but it is also motivational and a building block to organizational success (Menguin, 2012). Thus, throughout my path in the field of public health, I am not only certain that such training will come handy but also others will be of enormous benefits during the right time and for the right people.
