Consumers' Health and Safety Concerns

Introduction:

Similarly at the beginning of this practicum, it became important to research the social determinants of health critical to the health of the City of Worcester. And so, for this reason, I decided to generate a list of the major health and safety concerns observed in the city. This list of health and safety concerns provides a broad picture of the overall health experience of the county. It describes many of the contextual factors that in influence the health of Worcester residents, which helps identify groups of individuals and communities at greatest risks of poor health conditions. These concerns fall under two broad categories: Environmental Health and Public Health. Some examples include: housing issues, environmental issues, substance abuse and health inequity.

Reflections:

Since awareness is a key element to public health program and policy regulation and implementation, presenting consistent factors that affect a particular segment of a wide-range population can help find the underlying forces influencing population’s health (BPHC, 2011). Thus, this health and safety concerns list can help stimulate discussion among public health officials into gather specific information to address theses concerns. This descriptive information helps me acquire program planning skills based on organizational, and community concerns and resources for public health programs.
