Consumer Performance Review Form

Introduction:

After completion of the filed training and after some time conducting housing health inspections, it became appropriate to create a “Consumer Performance Review Form,” which was a tool to help identify the challenges faced some residents when it comes to the health and safety of their households. The purpose of this review form is to outweigh these challenges using standard performance measures, guidelines for delivering feedback, and disciplinary procedures. This was a way to promote awareness in the community and indicate to consumers the issues that are relevant to them. With the knowledge of the detrimental aspects of household conditions, the department will be able to evaluate the consumers’ reasons for arriving to these conditions and then provide ways to help them resolve these issues. The form also contains a feedback section for both the consumer and health inspector assigned to a specific case. The feedback provided by the consumer on behalf of the health inspector will help the department evaluate its personnel and concentrate on areas of improvement.

Reflections:

The objective of performance evaluations is to translate the department’s mission into specific achievable goals for the community it serves. These also should be conducted fairly, consistently and objectively to protect your employees’ interests and to protect the residents (Capko, 2003). Although this evaluation mostly centers on the consumer and his/her problems, it also takes into account the public health official that is on the field, promoting the values of the department. With that in mind, it is in the best interest of everyone that professionalism and ethics is maintained. Therefore, working on this project has placed me into perspective with the responsibilities of a true leader. Certainly a leader must possess the qualities just for this role, but also, he/she needs to take in consideration the organization and the population that are dependent on him/her. A performance evaluation can also help judge the efficacy and efficiency of a leader’s work.
